Guest Post: Summer Food and Fun at Bryant!
October 3, 2012

Bryant Community Center campers enjoyed a fun summer of activities and nutritious food!
The Bryant Community Center participates in the Summer Feeding Program with the help of Food Gatherers. The food that we receive and feed to the kids means a lot. Most importantly, the food we get from Food Gatherers means that every kid in our program is guaranteed at least two meals a day and snacks in between. But it also means that our community learns more about nutrition and making good choices through eating. The guidelines set forth in the program, combined with the options provided by Food Gatherers, created well-rounded, healthy, and appetizing meals.
Earlier this year, during the first week of summer camp, we prepared the meals and planned on explaining to the campers what was in the boxes or bags they would be served. Before we had a chance, though, the kids excitedly questioned what was inside. Clearly, the packaging of the meal was just as much of a treat as the food itself. Based on the positive interactions during this year’s Summer Feeding Program, we hope that Food Gatherers and Bryant Community Center continue to cooperate by feeding the children at our annual summer camp.
