Toby Hemenway to visit Ann Arbor

Toby Hemenway, author of Gaia's Garden:
A Guide to Home-Scale Permaculture, will be in Ann Arbor in May.
For the past six years Gaia's Garden has been the world's best-selling
book on permaculture, a design approach based on ecology for creating
sustainable landscapes, homes, communities, and workplaces. Permaculture
design consciously recreates the diverse and multi-layered interactions
and synergies which make natural systems so efficient, resilient,
and bountiful. To learn more about Toby, visit his website: www.patternliteracy.com

Vampires'
Ball
Hosted by Zingerman’s Roadhouse, this
October benefit for Food Gatherers pairs a fabulous multi-course
dinner with an evening of spooky entertainment. Guests are treated
to readings from bestselling novelist (and former Ann Arbor resident)
Elizabeth Kostova, tarot card readings, and other spirited activities.
The money raised at the Vampires’ Balls over the last four
years has provided more than 80,000 meals for people in need in
our community.

Rockin' for
the Hungry

This is our largest outdoor canned food drive, held for a week
in the beginning of December, at Busch’s Fresh Food Market
on Main Street. Live broadcasts from ann arbor's 107one FM throughout
the event encourage food donations to achieve our goal of more
food for more people. Friendly food drive competitions between
businesses and schools add to the fun, with volunteers from numerous
organizations spreading cheer and the spirit of giving during
the holiday season.
