Food Gatherers exists to alleviate hunger and
eliminate its causes in our community by: reducing food waste
through the rescue and distribution of perishable and non perishable
food; coordinating with other hunger relief providers; educating
the public about hunger; and developing new food resources.

- Grillin'
for Food Gatherers 2008 is a success!
On Sunday, June 8th, more
than 1,500 people joined us at the Washtenaw Farm Council
Grounds for our 19th annual community picnic fundraiser!
Despite
the tumultuous weather, spirits were high and everyone
had a great time while fighting hunger where we live.
The money raised will help us keep our trucks on the
road, but we still need your continued support. If you
missed the event but would still like to help make a
difference in your community, please check out our donation
page or our volunteer
page.
Grillin' is always the
second Sunday in June. Mark your calendars for next
year: June 14th, 2009!
- Plant a Row
for the Hungry
Have the spring rains provided
an abundant harvest in your garden? Please consider
donating fresh produce from your garden to Food Gatherers!
As food prices rise, requests for fresh produce have
increased. You can donate by dropping off your produce
at our warehouse
during weekday business
hours, or at English
Gardens on
S. Maple.
- National
Association of Letter Carriers "Stamp Out Hunger"
Food Drive gathers 75,031 pounds of food!
On Saturday, May 10th, letter carriers
accepted donations of nonperishable foods to benefit Food
Gatherers. We're very excited to report an increase
of 66% over last year's totals. Thank
You to everyone who donated food and Thank You to the
hard-working Letter Carriers who gathered the food from
their routes!
